To reduce Sunday labor in the local postofflce to a minimum. mini-mum. Postmaster L. W. Shurtllff has started a movement to obtain'exprcssions from patrons of the offico bs" the circulation cir-culation of cards upon which the following follow-ing Is printed and which the patron Is requested to sign: "This Is to certify that we, tho undersigned under-signed citizens of Ogdcn. Utah, favor tho closing of tho carrier delivers windows, with the stamp and reglstrs' windows at Ogdcn. Utah, postofflce during Sundas's, to give tho employes of said office a da of rest. "The general delivers window will bo open for an hour to tho transient public pub-lic onls: collections and dispatch of mails and massing of box mail as heretofore." Carriers will present this card to each person on their routes so that a fair expression ex-pression of opinion on the matter may be presented to tho postal department at Washington, D. C. Detroit and other larger cities of the cast have adopted the Sunday closing rule, and Postmaster Shurtllff Is hoping that It may become effective in Ogdcn. |
