Show BILL CONFLICTS WITH DES MOINES MEASURES Although the governor has signed tho bill providing that in cities of the second class ono-half .the members of the city council shall be sufficient to confirm appointments ap-pointments mado by tho.mnyor, the bill will probably not become a law. The governor, gov-ernor, after signing the measure, discovered discov-ered that It was In conflict with the Des Moines bills which have passed the senate sen-ate and aro now In the house. Accordingly Accord-ingly he asked the secretary of stale to withhold llllng thu measure until ho had communicated with the legislature. Tho communication from tho governor calling attention to tho discrepancy was received In the senate, and on motion of Sonator Smith the senate expunged from Its Journal all reference to the signing of the bill by tho governor, and at request re-quest of the senate the house took the samo action. The bill will be recalled from the governor and held to await the action of the house on the Des Molnos bills. |
