Show BLANCH ARD, STATISTICIAN. HAS PRAISE FOR IDAHO Special to The Tribune. BOISE. Aug. 22. Clarence J. Blanch-ard. Blanch-ard. statistician, for tlte government reclamation re-clamation bureau, arrived In Boise Saturday Sat-urday morning on his tour of the western west-ern states, which thus far has Included Wyoming, Montana. North and South Dakota. Da-kota. Colorado and Utah. "The progress made In all of these states is marvelous," the Inspector states, "but advance in Idaho Is not equaled by any other state that I have been in. You get results more quickly he.re. The Irrigation farmer Is king this year, but the dry farmer Is up against a tough proposition. There Is no serious short-ago short-ago of water on any government project and tho farmer who has used his water Intelligently has abundant crops. "One of the most astonishing things that I have seen on this trip is the transformation which has taken place on the Minidoka project in the last three years. Having gone over the Minidoka project before there was a settler on the land, the changes furnish an Impressive Impres-sive example of the bonofits as well as the wisdom of the national reclamation law. I have visited many farms In the district and I am firmly convinced that the revenue from the crops this year alone will more than pay for the Indebtedness In-debtedness of the farmers for water rights. I believe that Minidoka will eventually lake a place among the apple orchards of Idaho." After a ten days Inspection of other parts of Idaho Mr. Blanchard will visit Washington and Oregon. |
