Show EIGHT AUTOMOBILES BUILT j IN EACH WORKING DAY Astonishing records In the rapid production pro-duction of automobiles are constantlv being be-ing made, but not until recently has any manufacturer endeavored to, compute the amount of time necessary to the making, finishing and fitting of the parts of a standard car of high quality. Statisticians employed by ThomaB B. .Tcffcry & Co. to accurately determine the cost of even greater accuracy, additional special tests and labor iu the production of the 1911 Rambler have proved that in building a car of quality an enormous amount of labor and time must bo expended. ex-pended. The Rambler output ie limited to 2500 cars, but the manufacturing, finishing and testing of each part Is so thorough that but eight cars can be produced each working day. Many hours are consumed in grinding crank shafts, valves, pistons, piston rings, cylinders and other parts requiring absolute accuracy. Tho engine test alone, to attain uniformity and the maximum horse power, lasts sex-eral days, the englno being required to perform per-form labor equivalent to one thousand miles of road work. |
