| Show A steel car I 1 the milwaukee st paul company is testing y new invention with a view of it to all the through passenger train between minneapolis and chicago it consists of a car made entirely of steel and which is to be ata tinned next to the engine when alie train is made ap the steel car will contain a boiler engine dynamo and storage battery the boiler is intended to make sufficient steam to heat att the cars without making any draft whatever upon the locomotive thus saving all the power ef the latter hauling the train the storage battery is provided in addition to alie dynamo so that in case of accident to the latter the lighting apparatus of taft cars can be kept at work lor at least ten hours the car ia so arranged that all the heating and lighting can be provided for a train of ten or twelve and by its practical working it will resemble the engine room of a building superintendent collins is convinced that the new steel car will brove an entire success cess and be great in the operation of r trains |
