The Ouray Valley Land & Wnlcr com,-pany com,-pany of Vernal, Uintah county, will present pre-sent an application with the state land hoard today (Tuesday) to have 23,000 acres sot aside for them under the Carey act. The land lies between the Dry fork nf ihe Ashley river, the Uintah and the White rivers In Uintah county. The altitude of the entire plat ranges from 4700 to 6000 feet. Tho soil Is a deep sandy loam with a clay subsoil, and this, with the climate, makes It the best kind of apple land, the promoters say. K. S. Collctt and B. D. Ncbeker nf Vernal arc at the head of tho company, and will take charge of tho land. It is expected that It will require the expenditure expendi-ture of about 5305,000 to put the land In shape and pet the water to It, The water will bo taken from the three nearby near-by rivers by means of canals. The promoters pro-moters say that there Is no need of expensive ex-pensive dams and they cxpoct to have water on 10,000 acres by October of mi. Of the big tract about ton thousand acres are already homcstcaded and u crudo irrigation system Is bringing some water In thero now. At the present time tho nearest railroad rail-road to the land Is forty miles away, but tho Moffat road Is building "In from Colorado and by the time the canals and tho laterals are In it Is expected that this road will have reached a point near the land. |
