Show A frightful fall william mccord fell from the top of one of the smokestacks smoke stacks at the citizens electric light works yesterday afternoon in ogden city he fell a distance of seventy one feet receiving terrible injuries A conveyance was immediately summoned and the unfortunate man taken to his residence where medical aid awaited his arrival dr powers assisted by dr conroy made an examination and discovered that the mans left leg was broken at the thigh his right arm broken above alie elbow besides numerous cuts and bruises the fractures were reduced and the cuts sewed up one cut under the right arm is a terrible wound the flesh being lacerated and bruised in a shocking manner the bottom of his feet were badly cut and it required several stitches to bring the flesh together rit ranse to say ahe man was not rendered unconscious by his fall and after receiving the proper attention related the story of his mishap he was engaged in placing the gay wires and braces on the stacle and was standing on an extension bidder one of the braces between the stacks was too long and had to be removed the band around the stack was wired to keep H from springing out when the braces was removed it so happened that the ladder rested directly against this band and as mccord removed the bolt tho wire broke and the band sprung apart the ladder was knocked anav from the stack and the unfortunate man sent whirling whir linc through the air to the ground below he struck on top of the boilers and receiving the injuries above described bed mr mccord although a man of fine physique ia neaily 71 years old and it is feared that the shock of his system will be more serious than his other injuries ogden standard |
