JOHN DBRX PRAJSKS CHRISTIAN BOYS' WORK If Trophy Can Be Won Next Year, it Will Remain in This City. To top off tho honors and compliments compli-ments which have been heaped upon Salt Lake City comes tho announcement announce-ment that thc local Y. M. C. A. has again been awarded the McHurney cup, tho international trophy for ni-ficiency ni-ficiency in educational work among boys. Never before has any city captured cap-tured this cup twice and what is more, Salt Lake City 1ms broken a second record in winning the cup for twelve months instead of six as last year. The McBurnoy cup is awarded annually an-nually to the association whose boys pass "the largest number of international interna-tional examinations, conducted by the board of examiners in New York City. The winner of this part of the contest, is entitled to hold the cup for half a vear. Then in order to give the smaller small-er towns an equal chance tho cup is awarded for thc second half of the veav to the. association passing the highest percentage of its boy membership member-ship in these difficult educational tests. But Salt Lake City wins both the contest for the large cities and Ihe contest for small towns. This has uov; or been done before in thc history ot the McBurnoy cup. Standing of Cities. Whpn we consider how many large cities all over this country were in this content it is hard to believe that wo have captured this trophy a second time. "The boys who attended to their studies so well and passed the hard examinations ex-aminations so high, and the -teachers who guided the students deserve great credit. But one thing thoy must do. Thev must win the cup again next veaf. and then it will always stay where it. belongs in Salt Lake City." ". Y. Armstrong, the chairman of the educational department of lho V. M. ('. A., was likewise greatly pleased at tho news. When asked to express his feelings he said: ''Proud? Of course wo are proud. Who has a better right to be? This victory just adds another feather to the large hat which Miss Salt Lako is wearing these days." Reception Planned. Plans for the reception of the tropin tro-pin have not been fully completed. It will probably bo brought, here by Windsor V. J?iec. president of the Y. M. C. A., who is at present in Montreal. The international Y. M. C. A. secretary, in sending congratulations, suggested that a steam calliope would alone be sufficient for tho joy which the boys who won tho cup had a right to express. ex-press.
