Articles of incorporation wore filed with the county clerk, Saturday, Sat-urday, by the Utah Jockey club of this city, and the officers named in. tho articles aro as follows: John Condron, .-joint owner of tho CuUen hotel, president; Benjamin Johnson, a local attorney, vice president; presi-dent; J. W. Rico of Now 'York, secretary; secre-tary; "V. II. Glcason of Texas, treasurer; treas-urer; W. W. Pi nn of San Francisco, general manager. These, together with Albert Hess, constitute the board of directors. Tho Utah Jockey club is organized for the special purpose of promoting horso races and the building of horso tracks. , not only in Salt Lake, but also in all parts of the United Slates. The gentlemen connected with the new organization or-ganization aro all monicd men, and if tho spring meeting at the stale fait grounds, -which opens May 22. proves a success, then tho Utah" .Tockev club will build a mile track in thfs city, which will bo one of tho finest and most up to-datc in the country, and which will mean a total outlav of from $250,000 to $300,000. Confidence in City. Mr. Condron says that he has great confidence in the future of this citv. and that ho is willing to invest a small fortune in a track, as horso racing is .one of his favorite sporl.s. and he hopes some day to see the finest track in the United States located near this city. Plans for tho new plant aro being be-ing worked upon and will bo announced an-nounced in the near future. While the location of the new track is kept from I ho public for the present. pres-ent. Mr. Condron says that it' will be in an ideal place, and that an option has already been secured for sufficient ground to put in the track. George Wissman of Oakland, an old friend of Mr. Condron. writes asking for information regarding the racing situation here, for the benefit of himself him-self and others who would like to come to 1 his city.
