attacks on the peoples barty they are equally unreliable and would be misleading if they were not BO erroneous here are the principal charges he makes as a representative of the liberal elements the system which has been built up by the peo pies party he says is based upon abo idea of communism this the growth of the intellect and here in utah we have our dukes and our earls and our barons the result is that millions grow up in poverty while wealthy citizens are stir rounded by luxuries that millions suffer and remain poor and their children are and the state is injured that giant corporation zions coop co op is a commercial ana conda which encircles in its folds every man of moderate means who seeks to do business in his line and completely crushes him out of existence in political matters everything is prepared in secret conclave the members of our city council whenever any problem arises of vast interest to the public close the doors and enter upon an executive session where the voter cannot go the people receive no value in return for the money which they contribute for the support of their municipal and territorial governments we are not possessed of adequate water rights and water privileges and the only answer we receive is that god has brought the drouth and that we have no right to complain and criticism criticise critic ise those who have so wisely expended the peoples monay the liberals of this city own more than half of ahe real estate the liberal platform is equal rights to all no privileges for the few and equal rights to the many etc etc this is the sort of stuff dealt out to the small knots of liberals who congregate for political purposes if ahe object in view is to stir up men billed with bitterness to still further hostility to the majority here it may have the desired effect if it is to win votes from the peoples party it is the very essence of folly because every peoples party man who is not insane knows that this faithfully served at less cost than in any other municipality of the same size anywhere the remuneration received by a city councilor is the munificent sum of a year Is not this a marvelous financial solving the problem quietly but efficiently but they have never eaid we have no right to complain or to criticize the peoples party have held meetings for the purpose of hearing complaints and criticism therefore it is a direct falsehood to say they have declared that people have no right to discuss the matter of the acts 0 those who have expended public money it is not true that liberals own more than half the real estate in this city but if they do they who own it are not those who take the stump and pour out and falsehood and at the same time pose as pure and honorable meek and truthful citizens these are they whose names are noi on the tax list ab all or if there they contribute so little to the revenue that the whole of it pave a rod of street or lay a single pipe the liberal platform does not favor equal rights to all it proposes to take away every political right from every member of a particular influences to do this in idaho its purpose is to do it in utah it
