Tho letter of Mr. Ncwhouse to tho Salt Lake Mining and Stock Exchange, which was sent along with the. deed giving to that exchnnge the lot upon which it proposes to build a fine structure struc-ture for its accommodation, was couched in tho best form and demonstrated a high appreciation by him of tho work of the exchange. It was a good letter, oue that tho exchange can bo proud of, and that will undoubtedly be made prominent, in tho records of that institution. insti-tution. Tho gift by Mr. Ncwhouse of the sito for tho proposed now exchange wis an exceedingly liboral and handsome hand-some one. It is a lino demonstration of Mr. Nowhouse's public spirit, and of his recognition of tho good work that is done by tho exchange, and of the prominent placo it occupies in tho business busi-ness world of Salt Lake. A good deal of grumbling is heard from timo to time about tho Salt Lako Stock Exchange, and yet after all what would wc do without it? Its opera-lions opera-lions aro a foaiuro daily of great financial finan-cial transactions, and its dealings and it3 iufluenco aro potent in fixing the true business rate and price for the different dif-ferent stocks that aro put upon Its list. Tho mining exchange is doing a great work in tho business world of Salt Lake, and it is destined to oven a greater work and moro efficiency, in times to come, and especially when it' completes its uew building and moves into moro commodious and sumptuous quarters. |
