Sheriff Sharp's annual report, which is being compilod, will show a falling oft' of the county receipts from liecuso rovenucs for 100S of 4322.05 over 1907. Tho loss is in liquor lioejiso revenues. Tho total receipts from liquor licenses in 190S was $2-1,101.11, as against $26V00.3S in 1007, a diffcrenco of $1299.27 in favor of 1907. Tho decrcaao in the liquor license revenues is attributed at-tributed to tho closing down of some of the smoltcrs in various pnrts of tho county for several months. This temporarily threw hundreds of men out of work, and they naturally spent less lor hquor, which reduced tho sales of tins product to such an extent that a few, a very few, of tho saloons closed up, wlnlo few, if any, new ones wero launched. While there was a loss in tho liquor royenues, there was a gain in tho receipts re-ceipts trom merchants and butchers throughout thc county. Tho licenses Jrom this source amounted to $4212 98 l?l'SndJ5.m-2! jn 19S. a gain J22.05 to tho county from license rcvonucs in 190S.
