Show H0LBR00K SAYS COMPANY OFFERS $1000 CONTRIBUTION Special to The Tribune. PROVO. July 3. L. Holbrook, one of tho directors of tho Eloctric company, says that the amount of $1000, as agreed upon by tho board of directors to bo offered of-fered to Mrs. Cownovor, whoso husband was killed while working for the company, com-pany, was merely a contribution, and not tendered because tho company was liable or as tho value of tho young man's life. He said also that "even a less sum than $1000 was talked of In tho board meeting," but when asked which one of the directors suggested a less amount than $1000 he declined to answer tho question. In the report as published in Tho Tribune on July 2, it was stated that J. J. Nunn was ono of the directors. direc-tors. This is a mistake. Mr. Nunn Is the business manager of tho company, and the fifth director Is W. L. Blersoch. Reed Smoot Is president of tho company and of the board, nnd Mr. Holbrook says that the vote on the $1000 was unanimous. |
