Show Dun's Trade Ecviow. N'EW YORK. Jnn. 22. R. G. Dun's Weekly Review of Trade tomorrow will say: Development In trado Is along conservative conserva-tive lines. Lnrger payrolls In manufacturing manufac-turing centers help only retail distribution, distribu-tion, but this Is still much restricted, although al-though underlying conditions are firmly maintained because of reduced stocks in retailers' hands. The prospect of a change In tho customs revenue laws naturally nat-urally curtails operations In a number of Important Industries, and many enterprises enter-prises that would add materially to tho volume of business are hold In check until un-til there Is definite knowledgo regarding the provisions of these laws. Quiet conditions still prevail In Iron nnd steel and no transactions of importance impor-tance are noted. Demand from the railroads rail-roads continues unsatisfactory nnd heavy lines remain slow. A good volume of small orderti are noted In structural shapes, expected contracts of liberal size not materializing, and conditions In this division generally quiet. Castiron pipe Is the most active department of the Iron market. Consumption of coppor Is not keeping pace with the record production, produc-tion, and prices arc declining In consequence. |
