PAUL MAY BUILD BRANCH TO SPOKANE From Spokane comes the information that preparations are being made b' the St. Paul to begin at an earh- date the building of a branch from the main line of the coast extension in Whitman county to Spokane, according lo an engineer en-gineer in the ernplo' of the road. He was one of a surveying party which has boen in the field between the coast lino and Spokane during the last several sev-eral weeks running over several old surveys made for the location of a lino paralleling the Northern Pacific from a point in Whitman county. He volunteered volun-teered the further information that the branch will be built from Maiden: Maiden, which is located about ten miles west of Rosalia, will be a divi-sion divi-sion point on the main line, according to an official announcement of the company. com-pany. The. fact is regarded as supporting support-ing the statement that the Spokane line will be built north from Maiden. The division point -west of Maiden is Othello, Othel-lo, in Adams count. H. If. Williams, president of the St. Paul corporation in Washington, when asked concerning the rumored Spokane branch from Maiden, did not deny that such is tho intention. Ho refused to mako any .statement concerning the plan with reference to branch lines. |
