Show REPORT ON COPPER DISTRICT IN IDAHO A brief description of deposits of copper cop-per ore near Pocatello. Ida.. In the ceded I portion of the Fort 1-Iall Indian reserva-1 reserva-1 tlnn, Is given In a report by Messrs. F. B ! Weeks and V. C, Ilolkes of the United ! States geological survey, contained in an advance chapter from Bulletin 340 ("Con-' ("Con-' trlbutlons to Economic Geology, 1907, Part I."). The valuable metals of the 1 ores are copper, silver and gold. Mln-I Mln-I ing has been done by several companies, I with some development wn-k on a num-I num-I ber of prospects. The report contains a I description of the geology of tho district ! and of tho character and form of the j deposits, and presents facts bearing upon I the (juestlon whether the oro bodies are I of sufficient value to warrant the expenditure ex-penditure of the large amount of capital which would be required for their extraction ex-traction and reduction. Local conditions l affecting tho cost of mining and milling should, it l suggested, be most carefully considered In connection with plans for I mining .the ores. |
