Show STRONG WHEAT MARKET THROUGHPUT SESSION Nervous Tone at Opening Is Quickly Supplanted by a Bullish Tendency. CHICAGO, March 3. Tho wheat market mar-ket wan strong all day with the exception excep-tion of a brief period Immediately following fol-lowing the opening. Tho feeling was somewhat nervous at the start as the result of sharp declines yesterday, but after the few minutes an active demand from elevator Interests soon stnrtcd prices upward. Tho advancing tendency continued throughout the remainder of tho session. The market received vigorous support in the first half of the day from nhorts and bull leaders, the demand from these sources being based to a large extent on reports to the effect that stocks of wheat in tho Northwest are now extremely small. Continued . small receipts at all primary markets in this country also helped to stimulate demand. The market closed strong, with prices almost at the top. May opened 3Q)3c lower to i(J7lc hlghcir at 97Hc. advanced to $1.00U and closed at ?1.00(flU.00i. Persistent buying on the part of leading lead-ing longs stampeded bears hi tho corn , pit and forced prices up moro than lc from the low point of tho day. Local receipts were more than 100 cars in excess ex-cess of what had been estimated and this caused moderate weakness enrlj" In the day, but bearlshness ifoon gave place to a lone of decided strength. Tho smallncss of farm reserves and the strength of wheat were the principal factors. The market closed strong. May opened un changed to io lower at 61c to Glic, advanced ad-vanced to 62Jc and closed at 625c. Trade in oats was dull early ln the session, ses-sion, but more activity was manifested late In the day when shorts were forced to cover by the strength of vffteat and corn. The greatest activity was in the September delivery. Tho market closed strong. May opened a shade lower at G2S?? 52?c ' and advanced to 533c, where it closed. Provisions were strong almost all day following a slight weakness at the opening open-ing due- to a 5c to 10c decline ln live hogs. Several of the leading local packers pack-ers were credited with liberal purchases and this buying was said to have been the chief reason for the strength. At tho fiosc May pork was up 30c to 35o at $12.00 12.05. Lard was I2j(g'15c higher at S7.80. Ribs were up H'ic at 36.75.
