Show JUDGE'S IRE AROUSED He Thought the Men Should Ha-vo Been Charged With Graver Offense. Frank Turner, Sum Marcowski, Ben Francisco and Jim Bombino, the four men who wero arrested in the saloon of Bombino on Commercial street several nights ago on the charge of fighting, appeared before Judge Diehl yesterday for sentence. ITis honor announced that in the case of Turner and Marcowski thcro wns not sufficient evidence to convict, and he would, therefore, order tho defendants discharged. In tho caso of Bombino nnd his bartender, Francisco, Fran-cisco, a fine of $20 each was imposed. In passing sentence on the last two tho court remarked that he thought they should have been charged with a more serious offense than that of fighting. On their own testimony the two men beat Turii-T up in a fearful manner ; with billiard cues. It was necessary to l take no fewer than a dozen stitches in Turner's head to close up the cuts inflicted 'oy Bombino and Francisco. |
