It is the general understanding of 'men of local' railroad circles that tbe Electric Operating Construction com-nany com-nany of Wall street, New York, is the corporation that has secured an option on the purchase of the Sanpete Valley railroad, operating in Sanpete valley Utah, which" transaction- is envclopea in considerable mystery, Tho report that the Salt Lake route was desirous of acquiring tho road was denied by Vice-President J. Ross Clark, 01 the Salt Lake route, upon his arrival in this city Thursday from Los Angeles. It is said that the Electric Operating Operat-ing Construction company, which is interested in-terested in the franchise recontly granted grant-ed to build and operate an electric intemrban road between Salt Lake, Garfield and Bingham, had a recent examination ex-amination made of the coal deposits at Sterling, to which the Sanpete Valley Val-ley lino operates. Immediately following fol-lowing this examination, it is said, the option for tho .nurehase of tho . San-pete San-pete valley road was given, and for that reason, it is believed, that it wiir become the property of the Wall street corporation, which, it is rumored, also plan, to build an interurban line to Provo. |
