Show FORBES LARGE CHECK WITH WALKER'S NAME New York Banker in Jail for Uttering Cheeks on Salt. Laker. James J. Graham, assistant cashier of the Tnterboro bank. -19 Wall street. New York, was arrested November 25 for forging forg-ing Ihe namo of David F. Walker to a check for $2000. Tho check was drawn on "Walker Brothers, bankers of this city, and purported to be slgnod by Mr. Walker, Wal-ker, who was until recently president of the Interboro bank. Graham said that two men had presented a letter of Introduction Intro-duction from Walker requesting him to j extend all courtesies to them. They then presented lb cheek, he avers, tic could not show tho letter, however, and could nol. explain why he did not telephone to Mr. Walker, who was In New York at the time. lie finally broke down and confossed that he had forged the check to cover the overdraft of a friend, Alfred W. Burrows, Bur-rows, a mining broker. James W. Daly," the paying teller .if the bank, and Bur-rowa Bur-rowa were also ai rested, Daly on the charge of making false entries and Burrows Bur-rows for larceny. |
