Show MONDAY MARKET DAY HAS 11K0AL SUPPLY Heber Canyon Still Sending Strawberries and California Sends Fresii Nectarines. Though market row Is not expected to make an excellent showing on Monday. It did so yesterday. The booths were all woll stocked and a .number of new features fea-tures were shown along the row for the first time. White currants, looking much like bleached English red currants, sold for 10c a box. Tho regular red currant sold for the same price. Doth were In good condition.. Black currants were also plentiful, but their prlco has gone up to 15c a quart. California sent the first shipment ol noctarlnes. Only about ten pounds arrived. ar-rived. Tho price, 20c per pound, prevented prevent-ed a large sale with so much other produce of bettor quality at lower prices on hand. The California grapes, thnt arrived last Saturday, sold rapidly at 25c a pound, and by Monday afternoon but few merchants liad any more grapes for sale. Utah plums of good quality appeared on the market Monday In sufficient quantities quan-tities to reduce the price to 10c per pound. There were two kinds of the plum, a largo red one and a small blue one. Shipments of apples wero received from Brlgham City and Bountiful. The eating eat-ing apples from Brlgham City sqld at three pounds for 25c, while Bountiful apples ap-ples sold at 5c a pound. Potatoes took a slight drop In price. For the last two woeks they have been selling at 40c a peck, but one merchant has now reduced tho price to 35c a,peck. Ileber canyon, Just east of Bountiful, continues to snnd small consignments of strawberries. Those, however, arc of Inferior In-ferior quality to those of last week. Their price Is a little lower, being 15c per box. New raspberries sold at this figure, but prices on this berry were generally a little lit-tle lower in most of the booths. Utah celery made Its first appearance among tho green goods. The price, 10c a bunch, looked prohibitive to many, but there was a good sale even at this figure. String beans have dropped in price- to 10c per pound. |
