Show ANY OLD UNIFORM GOES Chicago Federation Recalls Its Arbitrary Arbi-trary Edict. CHICAGO, Sept. 2. The threatened disruption dis-ruption of tho Labor day parade In this city hna been averted. Tho Chicago Federation Fed-eration of Labor had Issued an edict that no musicians savo those wearing a uniform uni-form prescribed by tho federation should be allowed In the march, and It heid appointed ap-pointed a committee to see that no musician musi-cian wearing any other uniform appeared In tho parade. If one was found his musical Instrument was to be taken away from hlra and ho was to be removed from tho parade. Tho teamsters and freight handlers, who had mado contracts with bands which did not wear tho uniform declared by tho Federation of Labor to bo tho only correct thing, declared that thoro would be trouble If anybody attempted to take their musical Instruments away. The feeling grew bitter and for a tlmo threatened to ruin the parado. Tho federation this afternoon decided to recall Its edict, and musicians of all varlotlca of uniform will bo allowed In tho lino of march. |
