NESBITT, an old timer who has lived In Salt Lake for the past twenty years, died yesterday morning' at his home, of heart disease. The deceased de-ceased had an ofllcc in the Galena block on Second South, and was about 60 years old, without relatives in this State. The body lies at the undertaking undertak-ing establishment of S. D. Evans, who has written to Canada, notifying relatives. rela-tives. SUPERINTENDENT ASHTON of the Salt Lake county schools has received re-ceived notice that the school In district dis-trict 26, Murray, has been closed on account of the diphtheria having broken brok-en out. The school is closed indefinitely. indefinite-ly. NO CASES of smallpox have been reported re-ported to the Board of Health during the last two days. The Infant of Fred Bollechweller of 54 Pitts street has been reported sick with diphtheria, Clarance Gowan, the four-year-old son of George Gowan of 4G3 North Sixth West and J. A. Hancock of 922 West First South have been reported sick with typhoid fever. H. H. BUNTING, assistant postmaster postmas-ter at Ocean Grove. N. J., has sent a letter to Postmaster Thomas in hopes of locating the nephews and nieces of Joseph Asay, deceased, whose brother Amos, now dead, once lived here with his family. The names of the children are William Joseph, Eleazer, Theodore, Emma and Amos. It Is desired that they sign a paper which is enclosed In the letter, relinquishing their right to administer the estate of Joseph Asay, deceased, and requesting the appointment appoint-ment of Alfred Asay, brother of Joseph Jo-seph and Amos. There was a meeting of the water committee in the Mayor's office yesterday afternoon after-noon and in the evening the Council was in executive session for the whole evening. The report will be submitted at the regular meeting next Monday night. THE explosion of a kerosene lamp In the quarters of the Holy Jumpers on lower Main street last evening caused considerable jumping that is not called for in the doctrines of the religion. Fortunately there was no one in the hall at the time but .several persons who room in the building were called upon to make hasty departures to escape es-cape the flames. An alarm was turned In and the firemen soon had the blaze under control by pouring a llttlo water on tho, troublesome oil. Kolltz's candy store underneath was slightly damaged, dam-aged, hut the loss will be covered by Insurance. |
