Show CHASED BY WHALE. Massachusetts Man Has an Experience Experi-ence With Monster of Deep. BOSTON, Nov. 9. Spouting and thrashing tho water with his big tall, the monster white whale which haB been sporting off the North Shore from Lynn to Rockport for the past two weeks gave tw6 Beverly fishermen a chase. Friday Capt. John Haskell, who commands com-mands the steam yacht Aurora, owned by Dudley L, Plckrnan, a Beverly cummer cum-mer colonist, was out fishing when the whale came up near him. The whale spouted and acted ugly, so that Capt. Haskell, experienced a3 he Is, began to glance shoreward and figure on the distance to the beach. The whale began to hit up his speed, and Capt. Haskell began to bend to tho oar. Hoping to stop the fish, Capt. Haskell throw one of his extra oars overboard, and then bent down again. He did not watch to see whether the fish swallowed the timber or not, but pulled hard for the shallow water, and was soon out of danger. |
