Show Aim of Feudists Unusually Good In Shooting Bee at Bryantsville, Ind., Participants Only Killed No Bystanders Hurt. BRYANTSVILLE. Ind., June 11. Three arc dead and two' wounded, one fatally, asthe result of a duel-fought duel-fought on the streets of this village vil-lage today. Dead. James Rout, aged 32. Charles Rout, aged 3G. ' V Milton Tow, aged 34. Mortally Wounded. James Tow, aged 32. Severely Wounded. FranlcTow, aged 26. The light Is the culmination of a feudfl between the Rout and Tow families which has existed for several years. The Routs reside at Bedford, eight miles east of Bryantsville. and the Tow boys are farmers near here. The latter are relatives of the New family, which participated par-ticipated in the notorious Tow-Bass feud which made a bloody record in southern Indiana. Battle a Bloody One. A free gravel road election wa3 being held here today, and the little village of 300 was crowded. Farmery from the surrounding country gathered and there bad been considerable drinking. The fight took place In front of an election booth. It Is in doubt as to who llred. the first shot. Each of the live men drew k revolver and each side advanced, ad-vanced, all firing. The men were not fifteen feet apart when the firing oeayed. and on the ground three lay dead, one dying Willi a bullet through his neck and one still stood with a bullet wound through his arm and one In his side. None of the by-standers were i'truclc, although over twenty-six shots were fired. The excitement was Intense. |
