| Show POCATELLO CELEBRATES Elaborate Parade Takes Place James H Sovereign the Orator TRIBUNE SPECIAL Pocatcllo Ida Sept ILabor day here was celebrated with more display than In Iho previous hlulory of tho town An elaborate parade had been arranged by the various labor organizations organi-zations and lo the accompaniment of music by two bandy paraded the principal prin-cipal streets of the lon and marched to the Auditorium where James R Sovereign Sov-ereign ivan the orator of tho day The parade was marshaled by Councilman Coun-cilman J II DoddH and following tho first hand were Mayor Stecley and James R Sovereign In carriage Other carriages followed and then came Po cnlcllo lodge No 108 of the Interna tlonal Association of Machinists surrounding sur-rounding their float which carried a steam engine and boiler In practical working operation together with lathes vises etc Next were the blacksmiths ullh a float and each man carrying some of the tools ot their craft and I wearing their aprons The local trades came next followed by the Brotherhood I of Locomotive Firemen carrying scoops coal picks and tallowpotn Following was a handsome float carrying the lady retail clerks and behind wer Pocn tello Typographical union No 119 the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen Train-men another band a farriers shop on wheels In full operation and floats and wagons representing the local mercantile mercan-tile and Industrial establishments At the Auditorium Mr Sovereign wan Introduced by President Alfred T Tonca of the Pocatello lodge of machinists Mr Sovereign spoke for about thirty minutes and delivered an address that waa alike remarkable for Its force and conservatism The day closed with an openair band concert |
