S Thomas called tho Democratic Demo-cratic State convention to order this morning the fusion committee from the Peoples party convention wag announced an-nounced The committee consisted of Leo Vincent of Boulder chairman of the Populist State committee and L T Gray of Colorado Springs They asked for recognition on the Democratic ticket without designating how many places they desired plcs A motion mo-tion that the question be referred to a committee of three was vigorously supported by United States Senator Teller and was adopted Nelson Frank lin of Teller county Senator W II Adams o Conejos county and Sena tor W S Buckley 0 San Miguel coun ty were appointed as the committee PATTERSON FOR FUSION While the committee was consider ing the question Senator Patterson by request of the convention made an address He warmly supported the nomination of E C Sthnson for Governor Gov-ernor and favored fusion with the Pop ulluts He declared that the speeches made by President Roosevelt during v1 his Southern trip were apologies for the suits lie instituted some time ago against two of the trusts He referred to the recent legal struggle for the control of the Colorado Fuel and Iron company declaring that the change of management sought would mean the absorption of the company by the steel trust NOMINEE FOR GOVERNOR HEARD Judge E C Stlmson who was nom inated yesterday for Governor was called upon and made a brief address thanking the convention for the honor conferred upon him Lafe Pence of San Francisco who represented the First Colorado district In the Fiftythird Congress Conlres was recognized rec-ognized by the delegates and called upon for an address At the close of Mr Pences speech the committee on the Populist proposition propo-sition announced Its report Infnvor of giving the Populist party one place on the ticket After considerable discussion the committee was Instructed to learn definitely nitely what and olllce whom the they Populists would name
