week and for three days the representatives of the various clubs of the State were royally entertained by the clubwomen of the Junction City Very great Interest In-terest attached to the excellent pro grammes rendered nt nil the sessions The reports oC nil committees were oC a mtlsf torY nature and pave cause for congratulation for the work accomplished ac-complished along the several lines set forth nnd those who listened realized that the federation < had been purtlcu Irrly fortunate In selecting the stand Inr committees which have served it during the year Perhaps around the report of the chairman of the free traveling library committee Mrs W A1 Nelden cen teied the mont Interest for the In fluence ot that committee for good In the smaller towns of Utah Is I mote generally felt than tfic work of the other committees By the end of the present year twentyeight cases con taming on an average about seventy five books will be In circulation six of which will hat e been filled during the present year Of these none Is being looked forward towith more Interest and pleasure than the juvenile case the first In the library which Is given by ilrs David 3hvmg of this oily as a memorial her HLtlr daughter Luclle The case will contain 100 volumes of the best Juvenile literature and will bo known ns tho Iticlle D Evans li brary In addition to the new case llllod during the year several of the It older canes were replenished the torn and tftttored books being replaced by new open the cases repaired and new catalogues written In the work of arranging and cataloguing the books Mr Nelden was most ably assisted by Mrs David E Hcmphlll and Mrs A T Vollmcr the other Salt Lake n1elhh roC r-oC the committee Before closing her very encouraging report Mrs Nelden urged the clubwomen of the cities oC the second and third clans to work for the establishment of public libraries which they are entitled to under the law lawftlillc While not a < j encouraging rcsultn were reported < 1 by the chairman of the art committee Miff A C Ewing of Salt Lake the plans outlined by the committee aroused tho greatest possible possi-ble Interest among all the clubwomen present I particularly from the outly ing districts and no doubt nt the next meeting of the federation the report Kill show the fruits of the suggestions given Among the suggestions made by Mrs Ewing were the advancement of municipal alt such as village Improvement Im-provement tree planting clean streets artistic residences grounds and parks Mis Evlhg > argued that mon had not the lelmiro for the consideration of these matters and helloved they would bi glad of the l cooperation of women in bringing about needed changes In the building of the city beautiful The preservation of natural beauties in country and city was also urged and the heightening of the natural beauties by those I whose love of nature has been supplemented by special training recommended rec-ommended The work of women in the lines of nil In mains directions was referred re-ferred lo by Mis 1 Ewing and a 1 full measure of praise given A report of the committee on education educa-tion was given by Mr fir P Hutchinson Hutch-Inson of Salt Lake the chairman of the committee on reciprocity by Mrs A W Putnam of Ogden of the committee com-mittee on club extension by Mrs Kate llllllard of Ogden nnd of the Industrial committee by Mrs P A Cook of Ogden Og-den denBesides Besides these reports a varied pro grnmme was given none of the numbers I num-bers of which aroused greater Interest nnd enthusiasm Hum the eloquent address 1 I ad-dress on Thursday evening by Rev Elmer l I Goihcn of Ogden and the I practical 1 talk on Friday afternoon by Prof William M Stewart of the University Uni-versity of Utah The inception given at the rooms of the Weber oluh pn Tililaj evening was a flltlnq1 finale to the altogether successful and enjoyable convention Needlework Guild The garments for the Needlework Guild will be collected Monday morning morn-Ing November l Sid and taken to the 4 room at the Krnyon kindly loaned by 4 Mr Porter for the fourth year Collections Collec-tions will bo mad only at tile addresses 4 ad-dresses sent to
