Show fAilED TO FiX DATES i Republican City Committee Postponed Action WILL MEET AGAIN MONDAY Controversy Over RosidonoQ of Alma D Katz Committee Is Also Divided in Opinion in Matter of an Early or Lato Convention A contest on the acceptance of tho proxy of a member who has left the State and the question of an early or lalo convention con-vention were matters which engrossed the attention of ihc Republican city committee com-mittee at Itii Initial neetlng of the campaign cam-paign held lost night and the committee adjourned without arriving at a conclusion Ion on either question The business for which the meeting was called was to apportion delegates for the coming convention and tu fix dates fort the for-t convention and Lime primaries which miiHt precede It but on account of Inabll lly to settle the proxy question at this muetlng an adjournment was taken until next Monday evening at S oclock with nothing accomplished except Ihu appointment appoint-ment of a committee of three to report at the next meeting The committee was railed to order by Chairman Dennis C Elchnor and the others present were Secretary Walter J Necks Gcorgo Wilson A F Law on J U Eldredgc representing J II Priest by proxy J J Meyers T A Oalllstcr T L I Irvine Arthur Pratt Morris L Ultrhlr 1i C Loofbourow represantlng Alma D Katz of the Fifth precinct by proxy S C Wing representing A Fred Wcy by proxy The proxies were accepted with the exception of that held by Mr Loof bourow which was contested by several members for the reason as alleged that Mr Katz hod renoved from the State It I havlnj been claimed by others that the family of Mr Katz was still living here and that the gentleman himself had not given up hIs residence in Salt Lake although al-though temporarily absent and that Mr Loofbourowa proxy was In every way regular a committee was appointed to In vtftjllgato the matter of Mr JCatra residence resi-dence The committee undertook to obtain ob-tain conclusive evidence on the dlsputec question last night but having been In ablc to do so at the time there was nothing noth-ing left for the committee to do but to adjourn to a later date and give the committee com-mittee time to report While no action could be taken on the matter of caucus or convention dates under un-der the circumstances then was enough discussion lo give evidence of a division In Iho committee on the question of an early or late convention ami quite a lively contest con-test is expected on this point at the next meeting |
