| Show NO TRACK LAYING YET I Work at Gallontes Is Confined to Grading and Is Being Pushed An impression obtains hereabouts that the San Pedro is already constructing con-structing the road between Calientes and Daggort Up to the present tihle attention has been devoted to the gradIng grad-ing with the exception of a short stretch below Calientes where the roadbed though finished was dropped at the time of the controversy between the Short Ijlne and the San Pedro The grading will he far advanced before the work of construction is begun An official of-ficial of the road said yesterday A great many people get the Impression im-pression that tracklnylnjj Is the work that is engaging the attention of the engineering department of the road We ate doing simply l he grading at present and we are putting all the men in the field we can use The construction construc-tion work will come next We will have to have a good start on the grading so that when the construction gangs goon go-on they can be kept at work As soon as this work is underway the depots freighlhouseH water tanks sidings and other matters of that kind will be taken up 1 supposed that we would be nblc to get at the work In a couple of months but of course It will be Impossible to set a llxert date for the beginning of the work But this part of the construction will follow the tracks It is the Intention to have everything finished when the road Is ready for operation The present work is being done under un-der the direction of the Utah Construction Construc-tion company The buildings will come under another part of the englneerlni department The business done by the roads at both ends ol the completed lines gives something of tin Idea of what the Salt Lake route will do when the cars are running to the coast |
