Show EBER ME1iF n IIS SERIOUSLY HURT AT ThE E ANKEE r VE Will Probably Lose Sight of I One Eye I BROUGHT HOSPITAL HERE l Injuries Caused by the Explosion j Explo-sion of Missed Shot His Face and Left Arm Badly Injured I In-jured His Nose Broken and Eye Badly Lacerated TRIBUNE I SPECIAL Eureka Sept K lletaer Mel lor was very seriously Injured at the Yankee mine here at an early hour this mornIng morn-Ing Mellor and his partner Charles Taylor had put in a round 01 holes the fuse retired and 11 after spitting to another part of the mine to wait for the report of the shots before coming off shift One of the shots did < l not go off and after wailing for what he considered a reasonable length of time Mellor started back into the raise to Investigate He supppsed that t he had either neglected to spit the fuse or else the fuse had been defective de-fective SHOT 1PLUJJ While he was climbing up Into the i raise the shot however went off Had he been farther into the raise he would undoubtedly have been killed by the I explosion but 1 as Il was his face and i left arm were badly injured his nose was broken and the left eye badly lacerated lac-erated and the entire face cut and bruised He was taken to his home and Dr Henscl called in to attend him until this morning when he was taken to the hospital at Salt Lake HAS A FAMILY It Is I not known at this time whether the sight of the left eye Is destroyed 01 not Mellor Is a married man and a member of the Knights oC Maccabees of Eureka |
