Show DECEMBER HEALTH REPORT The mortality in Salt Lake City for the month of December is lower by one death than for November and ten higher than for the same month of 1901 There were 73 resident deaths which II corresponds to a death rate of 1108 per 1000 according to the estimated population popula-tion The principal causes of dealh in proportion pro-portion to the number from each cause were pneumonia with nine cases fatal 0 each from old age and pulmonary tuberculosis 5 each from organic diseases dis-eases of the heart Brlghts disease and typhoid fever bronchopneumonia 4 1 3 each from diphtheria erysipelas and cerebral congestion I 2 each from acute rheumatism acute bronchitis accidents of labor congenital debility and illde fined diseases and 1 each from 14 other causes All of the decedents were white 10 were males and 33 females 2C were natives na-tives of Utah 11 were born In other parts of the United States and 3H were of foreign birth By social relation there were 28 single 32 married 5 widowers and 8 widows There were 15 deaths among children under 5 years of age G between the ages of 5 and 15 5 from 15 to 2n years of age 15 over 25 and under 4H 17 from 45 to 65 years of age 12 over G5 and under 85 and 3 over S5 years of age There were 116 cases of contagious and infectious diseases reported during the month as against 251 for the same month of 1001 Compared with last year there were 22 this year as against 10 scarlet fever decreased from 101 cases in IDol to 16 in 1002 smallpox Increased from tj 1 J to 30 During the month there were D9 houses disinfected after contagious con-tagious diseases had existed therein via I Scarlet fever 23 diphtheria 25 smallpox 11 In all containing 244 rooms There were 101 births reported of which number but one was colored according to sex there were G7 males and 14 females Seven still births were also reported I Ten of the 15 examinations of culture tubes for diphtheria bacillus were found to contain the causative germ of diphtheria Fifteen samples of milk were tested hut 1 bf which fell below the standard All were found free from formaldehyde or other preservatives irOKACE H SMITH Clerk |
