Show DISFRANCHISING NEGROES Union League Club New York Discusses Dis-cusses Report on Subject and Lays It on the Table New York April 91he Union League club committee on political reform re-form made Its report tonight on a resolution reso-lution submitted two months ago empowering em-powering the committee to investigate recent legislation of Southern States disfranchising negroes antI also on a resolution Introduced by Warner Miller demanding that Congress enforce the fourteenth and fifteenth amendments to the United States Constitution by the reduction of the number of Representatives Repre-sentatives in each State where the franchise has been reduced in proportion propor-tion to the extent of disfranchisement Mr Millers resolution also indorsed the attitude of President Roosevelt on the Monroe question The commission ens report included the resolutions with slight modification There was a discussion that continued until midnight mid-night but which was said to have been wholly harmonlus The report was tabled ta-bled by a vote of 88 to GO |
