Show COLDNESS IN CHURCHES i i Director National Bible Conference Scores Ministers Dtclaring They Are Not Preaching Christianity Warsaw Intl Aug17Tlic eighth annual an-nual session of the National Billie conference con-ference opened at Winona today with moo ministers of various denominations In attendance The opening sermon was preached by Rev J W Chapman director di-rector of the conference who lamented the condition of coldness prevalent In the churches of today He also told the preachers that they were not preaching preach-ing Christianity and that the ministry seemed to have an accentuated disposition disposi-tion toward Idleness In the afternoon Rev George F bmw of London preached his first sermon In the United States The Hillside service which corresponds corre-sponds s Ith Northflelds Round Top meetings was conducted hy Rev James Mursell also I of London Nearly 3000 persons attended this meeting The evening sermon was delivered by Rev George Jackson pastor of the Methodist tabernacle at Edinburgh Scotland At the Sundayschool there was an attendance of 2000 the largest In tho history of the conference At this meeting William C Hall of Indianapolis announced that a movement I move-ment was on foot to make Winona the Sundayschool center of the country by Hocurlng the annual meeting of the International committee whose work Is to arrange the Sundayschool lessons for the world |
