Show BATHING AT LAGOON Work in Progress at the Popular Resort Fresh water bathing will he a feature of the Lagoon next year Work on the new bathing pond l Is already under way and It Is expected to have the work all completed long before the opening of the amusement season next year According Ac-cording to Simon TJamberger president of the Salt Lake Ogden road it Is the Intention to make this one of the most attractive features of the Lagoon and In nlcturcsquencss It will surpass If anything the other beauty spots of the l place FRESH WATER BATH The contract for the work has already al-ready been let said Mr Bambergcr yesterday and a force of men Is engaged en-gaged upon the excavation for the pond I have not the figures convenient just now but my recollection Is that the plunge will be about 100 feet square There will be 200 bathinghouses and deep waler will be reached gradually The place will be provided with springboards spring-boards toboggans and other pieasures for the bathers LAKE WILL FURNISH HEAT The pond will have a large inflow of water and v > ill I be fresh and clean nil the time There will be no shower baths of course as fresh water will make them unnecessary There will be no coating of salt to wash on as in the cast of the lake bathing The pond will be fed by artesian wells We shaH use the surface water oC the present lake This Is always warm enough We have kept track of it this summer and we found that the surface water has an average temperature of 78 de rees It never varies over two degrees either way WATER FROM THE WELLS Tho artesian wells will fcod the lake Irst because the water Is too cold to bath in but the supply will be increased 1 in-creased KO that It will be practically hike river bathing We shall build flog tnlzig In front of time bathing pond he bottom of which will be sandy Grass plots will be laid out around the ond > and it will be ornaircntod with trees I flowers and shrubbery Iii this vny we expect to make n very attrac tlc place of It SHLTS OUT THE TOUGHS I When Mr Uamberpur was asked re arding the financial success of the 0ccnt t faro to Lagoon he expressed himself us satisfied with the oxpcrtrnmt He said that the rate had kept away in undesirable clemint and that the Lagoon hud been patronixud by a better class of people When the rate was 25 cents a boisterous element frequently made It unpleasant for those who want here to enjoy the beauties and quiet 01 he place He thought that the stands had been as well pnrtonlcd as whtn the cheaper rate prevailed The people who my no cents to go there said Mr Jamberger have money to spend after I hey reach the resort |
