FORESTS IN FLAMES Thousands of Acres of Valuable Tim bar Lands in Green Mountain Stato Burned Burlington Vt June 4At least 1000 men are fighting forest fires in Vermont Ver-mont yet thousands of acres of valuable valua-ble timber land have been burned over and there Is little prospect that the fires can be checked until rain shall fall At Hardwlck two residences were destroyed de-stroyed The most serious situation is on Worcester mountain near the towns of Worcester and Elmore The fire there has burned over 1400 acres of heavy timber tim-ber land valued at 50 an acre and Is rapidly spreading The smoke in that locality is so dense objects a block away cannot be seen
