Show THE STRAWBERRY VALLEY PROJECT A most Interesting part of the discussions discus-sions at the meeting of the State Board of Land Commissioners on Wednesday was the talk about the proposed reservoir reser-voir In Strawberry valley and some or the opinions expressed concerning It It Is supposed that water enough could be stored by the projected dam below the Junction of the Big and the Little Strawberry Straw-berry to water fifty thousand acres of land In Utah county the water to be brought down Spanish Fork canyon Preliminary work to the project was urged the cost to be paid out of an appropriation ap-propriation by the last Legislature forgathering for-gathering data by means of surveys and otherwise to ascertain the feasibility of such propositions Very singularly an objection was made even to the preliminary work by one of the members who didnt think there was water enough to Justify even this preliminary work when the very thing proposed was to find out If Investigations In-vestigations arc to be blocked because somebody doesnt think this or that it will be Impossible to get anything done or oven to make a start anywhere Another thing brought out was that the Moffat road may use the Strawberry valley for Its roadbed If so then by all means this preliminary Investigation should be made without any delay and If the reservoir Is found to be feasible It should be declared and the lines of waterstorage determined before the railroad grade surveys are established After that claims for damage might arise As to whether there Is sufficient water in the Strawberry creek to make It nn object to store It the general opinion of those who know the country is that there la plenty But whether or not Is the thing primarily 1 to ascertain And the Board should not have allowed the preliminary steps toward that ascertainment ascertain-ment to be postponed for a month It Is a loss of valuable time |
