Show CHRISTMAS ENTERTAINMENTS ts Ono ot tho most pleasing entertainments entertain-ments of the Christmas season was that at the First Baptist church last evening I even-ing given under the auspices of the I Sundayschool The decorations were ery pretty and two tall Christmas trees held loads of good things which wore distributed to the members of the Sund school nt the close of the en lertalnmcnt The principal event of the cvonlng was the cantata The Crown lug of Christmas which had been ur langcd by Miss Crisslc Lawson the wellknown young vocalist The youthful youth-ful entertainers were Horace Tucker us Santa Claus Will GuthrIe Dora lohnson Harold Berkley Fred Butler Frank Wright Allen AlcNItt Florence Nichols Alildren Jones Viola Johnson Nellie Newcomer Alma Weant Flo Blood Marguerite Lawson Helen Street Roy Worthman and Raymond Lawrence The Dolly Roc 1m by by tIthe tI-the last three was a pretty little thing and received deserved applause as also did the solo of little Marguerite White Mrs Lucas also pleased the l audience with a vocal selection The entertainment entertain-ment lasted a couple of hours and wan generally voted to be the most successful success-ful entertainment of the kind ever attempted at-tempted by the Sundayschool a The Christmas entertainment given by members of the First Christian Sundayschool was one of the most delightful de-lightful of the holiday time A pretty cantata The Birth of Christ was i rendered by thirteen members of the Sundayschool In costumes representing represent-ing I the respective characters Mastero Augustus White Bayslnger and Gatrell took the part of shepherds Miss Sophia 4 Berry was the guardian angel and Miss 1 Winnie Berry the second angel The three graces were represented by the Misses Grace Kldwcll CorInne Harris and Alice KIdwell Miss Marlon Recdcr impersonated the Goddess of Dreams Miss Lydia Trenan the Goddess God-dess of Love and Miss Minerva Smith the Flower Girl The parts of the Frost King and Santa Claus were taken by Walter Bayslnger The closing scene of the cantata was a vary pretty ono indeed Little Louise I Milllron and Mary Pierce sang a song gave a little prayer and then retired I E This was a signal for the appearance of Santa Claus who distributed numerous gifts from the largo Christmas trees and gladdened the heart of many a youngster who had Impatiently awaited his coming In addition to the cantata recitations were given by Miss Esther Reader fnd Evon Moon and a song by Miss Allle Wllber 0 0 The church was crowded with parents and friends of the young people and the efforts of the children were greeted with hearty applause Much redlt is due Mrs Bagby Miss Florence Clayton and Miss Margie Simon for the success of the entertainment these ladies having hav-ing had the affair in charge Congregational Chinese Exercises The Congregational Chinese Sun dayschool will have Its Christmas exercises I ex-ercises at the First Congregational this week church on Friday evening of The programme will consist of addresses ad-dresses recitations and songs including includ-ing a trio a Chinese poem and a solo in Japanese You are cordially invited in-vited to attend |
