Show DISAPPOINTED BROKERS Visions of Heavy Speculative Grain Trade in Now York Vanished New York Aug IThero were n good many disappointed brokers around the wheat pit today AH visions vis-ions of a heavy speculative trade at the expense of Chicago whose quotations were cut off from the tickers today and replaced by New York prices vanished van-ished Instead of clamorous activity 1 there was holiday dullness most of the session so profound at times that messenger mes-senger boys nodded and pit traders sat around the ring edge In fantastic attitudes at-titudes waiting for the country to appreciate ap-preciate Chicagos bad form and ex cluslvoncss and send their orders to Now York But somehow the public was slow to change Its custom and orders or-ders did not come In as expected Optimistic Op-timistic brokers said the test was not a fair one more time should be allowed al-lowed that news anyway did not warrant war-rant much activity Others sat around and gloomily watched the Chicago board where prices were occasionally chalked down as they dribbled In over private wires wishing again for the merry ticks which formerly kept the two markets In constant touch During the first hour just twenty wheat and cloven corn quotations were recolvod from Chicago while a couple of million bushels of wheat covered the morning transactions nt New York Later In the day however business picked up a little and with It came advancing ad-vancing prices based on a better demand de-mand for cash property at the West both for domestic and export purposes Final prices which were top for the day showed 3yi I cent advances over Tuesday night Future sales wero about 3500000 bushels |
