Show MINING CAMP BURNED GILMAN COLO IS WIPED OUT BY A FIRE I Some of the Effects were Saved but the Fifty Buildings were All Destroyed > De-stroyed TRIBUNE SPECIAL Leadvllle Colo Aug 1Nearly all of the little town of Gilman a mining about thirtyfive miles west of camp thlrtyfc mies the ground Leadville was burned to this morning The fire caught In a private residence from a defective fine and spread rapidly to tho fifty buildings 1 build-ings in the little camp paved but Some of the effects were the buildings were all destroyed Owing Ow-ing to the high rate of insurance only I a half dozen of the buildings were insured in-sured and the total Insurance did not amount to 5000 The loss by the fire is 350000 the principal business houses being destroyed are those of Charles McClclIun loss 10000 Emily D Bucl McClelan W H IJumlleton loss 1000 W H St Clair loss 750 Adams S Urban loss S2COO Joseph Putvin loss GOO John Young 500 Thcro were n number of smaller TherI stores burned up and tho remainder of the loss was residences The people of Red Cliff near there are seeing to it that there is no suffering as a re suit of the lire j |
