mining district at Mill Creek gulch on Labor I Day September l 3rd nnd the question of L leasing of land In the district for grazing purposes was under discussion Largo sections of the mountains have J I been leased for the purpose ofgrazing j cattle and sheep and more of the territory terri-tory is being surveyed for the same I purpose Much of this Includes areas that mining claims have ben located on and parts of It I He less then a mile from claims that have been surveyed for patent which is now pending To prevent complications arising and to stop this method of grasping largo sections of this hind the t following rose I luiionn w rc adopted unanimously and will be followed by other stops Whereas Certain persons are seeking to and have secured leases for gra Ing purposes of large areas of land embraced em-braced by the Ln Sal 1 mountain mining mi-ning district being a strip of land lying I ly-ing within Utah along the Colorado line about twenty mflos in width and from where the Grand river enters Utah for more than 100 miles south and Whereas Tho greater part of all this area Is mineral lund and Is now being prospected and mined by numerous persons who have made substantial and valuable Improvements and have opened up rich Ipdes und deposits of precious metals tho land being Government Gov-ernment domain and open for exploration explora-tion and Whereas This land Is being selected by the State of Utah under its grant from the United States Government to acquire title from the United States and It being shown by false allldavlts that the same Is nonmineral land therefore be it Resolved By the miners and prospectors pectors of the said La Sal mining district t dis-trict at this meeting held at Mill Creek gulch this 3rd day of September 1000 that we enter oui protest against the methods being used to acquire title to this land ns being nonmineral and that si copy of these resolutions bo sent tp the Secretary of the Interior the Slate Land board of Utah and tho Register of the United States Land olllcc at Salt Lake City Utah and that a petition covering these resolutions be circulated for signatures In l all parts of the district to be forwarded to the I Secretary of the Interior at Washington Washing-ton D C and copies to the State Land board of Utah and the Register of the United Stales Land office at Salt Lake City Utah and that copies of these resolutions bo sent to the Rocky Mountain News of Denver Colo the Denver Post the Dcseret News The Salt Lake Tribune the Salt Lake Herald and the Sentinal of Grand Junction Colo A fivestamp prospecting mill has reached Miners basin being brought in by R J Thomson Co and will be running as soon as It can be put Ii place On September 1st the miners of Miners basin donated one days work In the repair of the trail from the High Ore property to the mill site and a pack train is now bringing down the ore There arc a number of proper tics that have free oro enough In sight to keep the mill going steadily for a year whether more bodies of free milling mill-ing ore are found or not A large part of the ores of the district are refractory refrac-tory or can be worked by the cyanide or chlorination process or may be concentrated con-centrated This Is especially true with ores found at the greatest depths Railroad to Mnrysvale The Rio Grande Western will extend its service into the heart of Marysvale mining district and not a few mining I men who have delayed an examination of the district because of tho trip by I stage from Bplknap to the mines will leave for camp next week A
