Show SANG THE MESSIAH SUCCESSFUL MUSICAL SERVICE GIVEN LAST EVENING Fist Congregational Church Packed and Singers and Organist Give Excellent cellent Rendition of Handels Work A most successful evening praise service ser-vice was one given last night at the First Congregational church when The Messiah was rendered Thc edifice edi-fice was literally packed hundreds standing up on both floors and a far back as the entrance and the Sunday school room Rev Clarence T Brown presided and spoke of the great ora torio of Handel prefacing the numbers with explanatory remarks The ora torio was not given in its entirety but enlrety the best features of the great composi srcat tlon were used In making up the at I tractive programme Prof Radcliffe was at the organ and although the power was weak he managed to get l through creditably In manascd alelUjah Chorus the power a noticeably notceablx weak but after waiting a few moments the organist gave It In good style Those who sang were Mesdames C G Plummer W M Ferry Percy Somcrs Cocks George Westervelt Miss Dwyer Messrs Gilbert Daniel Sands and Bennett Ben-nett The solos were splendidly sung by Mr Gilbert Mrs Cocks Mrs Ferry lIg and Mrs Plummer while the others assisted as-sisted In the double quartette which I Droved an excellent chorus l was one of the most successful Sunday night song services ever at tempted here and the Immense audience audi-ence rendition seemed greatly pleased with the |
