Show NEW PASTOR ARRIVES I REV D A BROWN COMES TO I FIRST BAPTIST I He Has Just Graduated Prom a Missouri I S souri College but Hns Been Engaged I En-gaged in Ministerial Work Before I J Rev D A Brown the new pastor of I the First Baptist church arrived yesterday t yes-terday afternon from Kansas City and I will preach at the church tomorrow I Mr Brown Is1 young man with a strong I and determinedlooking I I face and conveys the Impression of being unorIginal un-original thinker He has Just finished FPS I t S I 1 Rev D A Brown a theological and classical course at the William Jewell college of Liberty Mo where he completed a seven years course In five years beinG graduated last Friday and starting for hi new charge In Salt Lake almost Immediately lately l-ately Although he has Just left college col-lege this will not bo Mr Browns first ministerial work he having been engaged en-gaged In pulpit work about seven years Ho was formerly assistant pastor pas-tor of the First BapUst church of Kansas Kan-sas City under Dr Vassar a nephew of Matthew Vassal the founder of the college for women and after that Mr Brown wan pastor of the First Baptist mission In Kansas City and or the Baptist Bap-tist church at Lacygne Kan besides supplying at various places He was president of tho Students Missionary society at William Jewel college for two years and represented the society at two national conventions He was also business manager and one of the editorial writers on the college paper the William Jewell Student some years spent In the printing business before entering the ministry having especially fitted him for this work Mr Brown Is a native of Missouri having been born In Caldwell county In 1S70 He Is an old friend and classmate of Walter C Orem of Salt Lake and will make his home temporarily with Mr Orems family here |
