Show REGENTS LET CONTRACT WATER CONNECTION WORK TO BE DONE BY MIDGLEYS Normal Building Will be Ready by the Opening Day September 10th andOther Buildings on October 1st The Regents of the University I oC utah met yesterday afternoon Owing to tho absence of several of the members mem-bers oC the board on their vacations i there was only a t bar quorum present I The letting of the contract for don nectlng the University buildings with I tho city water system was the main business before the board and IMldgrlcy i Brothers were given the work their figures being S1073 The bid of Green it Reeve was 2100 and that of JDrsklne Brothers 1975 The Regents also de I elded to extend the gas mains already I connected with the physical to the nor inal and library buildings Prof Klngsbury said last evening I there was no doubt but that the normal I building would be ready for the trainIng train-Ing school by the 10th of September the opening day of that department and the other buildings would be ready by October 1st lie was out to take a view of the buildings a few days ago and was much pleased with the progress that had been made I expect he said there will be some formal ceremonies cere-monies attendant upon the removal of 1 the University from the old to the new buildings but just when they will take place I am not now prepared to say Certainly It will not be on the day we open That Is a matter which must bo considered later and will probably bo decided by a committee composed of the faculty and the Regents There was some Informal discussion as to the color of the blinds and a general gen-eral talk concerning the welfare of the institution I I |
