Show MUST BE VACCINATED I I Otherwise Children will be I Excluded from School I I BOARD OF HEALTH DECIDES l Tho Rule will bo Applied to the University Uni-versity and Private Schools as Well as Those Under the Board of Education Talk of Prohibiting I Public Meetings and Sunday I SchoolsWant an Immune Physician I I Physi-cian Christian Scientists as Teachers I Teach-ers in the Public Schools j jI I I Tho city Board of Health met last I evening with Mayor Thompson Health Commissioner King Dr Fisher and Dr Eeutty the latter of the State I Board of Health were present A resolution was adopted providing that a mandatory notice be sent to the Board of Education requiring that body to prohibit unvaccinated child I run from attending the public schools I This determination was come to after considering tho opinion sub mi Lted by City Attorney Stephens which has been published and which stated that the Board of Health had ample power to make such a demand It was also determined to make a similar simi-lar requirement of the University Regents Re-gents and the heads of all private I schools In the city It was directed that another building build-ing be secured for use as a pesthouse the present one not being capable of accommodating more than the fifteen patients there now It was also considered con-sidered advisable to rent an Isolated l house for the purpose oC keeping parties par-ties In who have been exposed to the disease until It has been demonstrated that there is no danger of their spreading spread-ing the Infection and It was so ordered I MAY PROHIBIT PUBLIC MEETINGS The possibility of the necessity arising aris-ing to prohibit holding public meetings was discussed but no action was taken In that regard although it was suggested that It might be a salutary measure to give up Sundayschools and other gatherings of children for the present The quarantine officers were ln sliucted to consult with the Salvation Army people the Chief of Police and the Sheriff with a view of making arrangements ar-rangements to have the army barracks and the jails fumigated WANT Alf IMMUNE PHYSICIAN Tt was also resolved to request the City Council to authorize the employment employ-ment of an immune physician one who has had the smallpox to attend to those who are sick with the disease Incase In-case the Cornell complies with the suggestion It Is l probable Dr Kay will be appointed It was stated that some teachers In the public schools who belonged be-longed to the Christian Science church instead of reporting cases of sickness among the pupils and preventing their attendance at the schools had encouraged en-couraged ailing children to come to school and profess that they were well A notice was ordered sent to the Board of Education calling attention to this and requiring that decisive action betaken be-taken to prevent teachers from pursuing pursu-ing such a course |
