Show TROJBLES OF DEN TSTS Trying to Unite on a Scale of Rates V I WOULD BE KIND TO PATIENTS At a Meeting of the Dental Association Associa-tion Last Evening the Fretful Subject Sub-ject of Fees Was Up and a Committee Com-mittee Was Named to Draft ft Schedule Then a Complaint Was Made of the Conduct of a Dentist Not a Member of the Association and Strife Ensued The Utah Dental association held its adjourned semiannual meeting In the city and county building last night with President Dr K A Tripp and Secretary Dr Will L Ellerbcclc of fleiatingi After the transaction of some routine business the matter of arranging a clinic and banquet for the October meeting was discussed and a commIttee commIt-tee consisting of H M Thatcher II W Davis T A Clawsun G B Eller beck and A C Dunford with the president presi-dent and secretary associated was appointed ap-pointed to lake charge of time matter Time secretary then read a paper by Dr W n Bucher on the advancement in dental ethics and denial science which was received with aplause and a vole of thanks tendered HOW TO CPIARGIi Time pioposlllon of a fee bill for dental den-tal service was then brought up The secretary as a member of a committee oppointcd to report on the bill read a statement helling out that the purpose pur-pose of such a bill was not In order to advance prices but rather to protect the public against unscrupulous overcharges over-charges Dt thc same lime preventing the patients from fixing the price for dental services thus ll was said proving prov-ing a benefit to the patients iand the dentists A bill suggesting minimum medium and maximum prices was then read and commented on favorably and adversely Some of the members thought that some of the prlcea In the bill namely what were regarded as reasonable prices for rare nnd dlfll cult operations might appall the public pub-lic and others thought the prices covered too wide a range and gave such latitude that the bill was valueless Some members spoke strongly in favor i of the bill It was finally decided to adopt a fee bill and a committee consisting con-sisting of the secretary A S Chapman G F Stlehl and B L Kosher was appointed ap-pointed tr reconstruct the foe bill sub irfitled and report at a special meeting of tIme association lo be held wllhln a short lime The secretary then look the floor again and announced that he had n word to May thai he regretted that his duly made It necessary especially IM the person referred to wan present lo do what he was going to do but it had to be done lie then read a poster which staled that Dr J W Thalchei V was a perfectly painless dentist and did all kinds of repair work and being a member of the State Board of Dental Examiners could always be found at home The secretary said he thought it was too bad that a man should make imle of his olllee to further his private Interests and had been guilty of tin dental conduct Dr II M Thalcher a brother of time man accused of being so bad took the hoot In his brothels behalf Dr J W Thatcher was present pres-ent but Is not a member of tIme society so-ciety and consequently could not say anything Dr II M I Thatcher said that as names were being used he would call attention lo the fact that Dr G E Ellerbeck secretary of the State board had been informed lhat a man was practicing without a license and had not done anything about It Dr G E Ellerbeck replied saying lie was glad the thing had been brought up He said ho had caused the arrest of one man and had tried to have another arrested but the County Attorney refused re-fused to Issue a complaint At this point someone suggested that the whole thing was Irrelevant as time accused ac-cused dentist did not belong lo the so clely and time mooting adjourned |
