Show Smallpox in Millard County Word was brought to the attention of the Hoard of Health yesterday by C L Hyde of this city who has sheep inter I esla In Mlllard and Beaver counties and C M Clay by letter from Burbank Mlllard county of a probable case of smallpox at Burbank From the descriptions de-scriptions given by Mr Hyde and Air Clayp communication Secretary Beatty diagnosed the case as genuine smallpox The patient Is George Richardson a prominent ranchman living on the Nevada I Ne-vada line who va in Omaha last November I No-vember but after his return home ro inajncd there continuously up to the I present time Richardson has a wife and flVe children but there arc no other persons living with him and the raiiehcn in that country are several miles apart The people all through the district were reported a much alarmed fearing from the nature of the eruptions erup-tions which had appeared on Richardson Richard-son that he might have smallpox smalpox I There have been dances over In Nevada I Ne-vada but the people there would not allow Richardson to attend on account of their suspicions For the same reason rea-son a nunjber of local people have gone to yoeclnatnl themselves and one enterprising en-terprising citizen Edward Lake who facclired a lot of vaccine matter from Dr Hosrner with Instructions how to use It began vaccinating his neighbors nelbhbQIs Ilr Clay did not think that the Rlch nrtlHon family had been vaccinated There arc fifty people In and near Bur bank Mr Hyde was exercised over the situation as he has ten herders caring for his sheep and does not know hut that they have been exposed He said there was a great state of uncertainty uncer-tainty In western Mlllard county and the cause of the disease was unknown particularly as there had been no one In there who had been In the Infected districts or wasknown to have come I In contact In any way with the disease |
