Show WILD SALT GRASS AS FEED Agent of Humane Society Makes Report Re-port of Investigations F L N Dc Brlchy special agent of tho Humane society says he has discovered dis-covered a system of feeding stock in vogue in North Salt Lake that borders onto starvation He states that he has visited about a score of places at which the chief feed given to horses and cattle I cat-tle Is wild salt grass which Is as void of nutrition he says as buckwheat straw Most of the parties whom he called on he says state that they give I their stock an occasional feed of grain I I I and a dose of alfalfa once or twice a I week but none of the latter products he says were in evidence about the I premises visited Others insist that the wild grass Is just the thing with which to bridge over the winter and bring out the stock In fine shape for spring but the stock which is emaciated ema-ciated Mr De Brlcky states Is the best witness of the lack of nutrition In the feed An allaround horse trader whom De Drichy says has drawn several sev-eral prizes In the way of fines In the Police court for cruelty to animals Is Indignant over the investigation and threatens to leave the city A sample of the wild grass will be sent to the experimental station for examination as to Its value as feed |
