Show I D A M SOCIETY PLANS VicePresidcnt Empey Talks of Removal Re-moval to New Grounds Concerning the resolution of Councilman Coun-cilman Buckle Introduced in the City Council on Wednesday night that a committee of five he appointed to memorialize the Legislature soon to assemble to compel the Deseret Agricultural Agri-cultural and Manufacturing society to comply with its contract in improving the Tenth ward square and asking that of failure to comply with that In view I a and other provisions 1 that the society be required to vacate the ground and huUdlugs ajnd find u home elsewhere YicePresfdont Empey said last evening even-Ing that he and the other members of the association would be only too pleased if the coming Legislature would make some provision whereby they would be enabled to remove to their own grounds on North Temple street bordering on the Jordan river JJe also believes that the present Exposition Ex-position grounds would make an ideal site for a manual training school such as the city is much in need of We have been looking for just such an oppoitunity for 10 these many years said Mr Empey and as there is no doubt in my mind that we have a till to the property In our possession TO should be glad to sell It and apply the proceeds on the grounds on the banks of the Jordan which have laid Idle for so long I hope the committee will act as soon as possible Of course we might not be able to finish the new buildings and grounds this year but even If one season should pass without a fair ft would more than compensate the city the State and the association in case we got a site where we could surround ourselves with all that goes to make up a firstclass fair |
