Show BOAUD 03 EDUCATION Change From the Old Members to the New Will Open Schools The now Board of Education look charge of the affairs of Urn city schools last night Thomas D Doe was chosen president and R S Joyce vicepresident The old board met first and held a short session at which they approved the minutes of the previous meeting au1 each member made a short talk congrat ulating thomsehcs on their pleasant re latlona with ono another and on tho good condition of the rchools and then formally for-mally stepped from the harness and turned the meeting over to the now mem born All of the latter were present lz D Joyce G II lllslob II AV Gwllllams and Dr Conr ° y The latter moved that Judge JDco bo made president and it was tarried Dr Joyce was made vicepresi dent The first business to come before the I now board was the smallpox question and considering the advisability of lengthen ing the holiday vacation Tub Sanitary committed reported that all buildings had been fumigated and that none ot the teachers isro aflllcted with the disease it was decided to keep the schools open The members of the board denied last night that thcro was any probability that Thomas Doxey of the Hamilton nchool of Salt Lako would bo Superintendent of the I Ogden schools They state that Doxoy 1 will not be selected Besides selecting a Superintendent does not come up until next June the law providing that the Su perintendent must bo selected at the first ipgular meeting in that month |
